Comedian Brian Regan keeps his routine clean
Rick massimo, The Providence Journal
It’s easier to explain what Brian Regan’s comedy isn’t than what it is. It isn’t self-consciously bizarre; it isn’t angry; it isn’t raving; it just plain funny in the old-school, post-vaudeville fashion. Fellow comedian Patton Oswalt wrote, “Brian Regan’s comedy stuns me … because he can start down the road with a premise that every comedian knows has not one scrap of flesh left on its bones, and find a new angle of attack that yields prime cuts of comedic meat.” Read more » -
Brian Regan Takes Questions
Marc D. Allen, Nuvo Indy's Alternative Voice
Politicians are smart, according to comedian Brian Regan.
"They certainly know how to not answer questions," he said. "They have tricks that no one ever seems to call them on. 'Sorry, I'm not taking questions today.' I wish I would have known that was an option when I was a kid in school. 'Brian, how do you find the square root of a fraction?' 'I'm sorry. I'm not taking questions today.'"

Best Bet: Comedy
Brian Edwards, Revue Magazine
Unlike many of his peers in the stand-up comedy business, Brian Regan isn't working on a sitcom. He's a stand-up comic who hones his craft through a relentless touring schedule and prolific joke-writing. He does do TV, but it's mostly the talk-show circuit and specials for Comedy Central. The DVD's of his standup routines - like Brian Regan Live and the new Brian Regan: The Epitome of Hyperbole - Sell very well in stores, and are among the most downloaded comedy bits on iTunes. Like Seinfeld or Ellen Degereres, his humor is observational and clean. His old bit on the directions for making Pop Tarts ("Step 1: Remove Pastry from pouch. Step 2: Insert pastry vertically into Toaster.") is a classic that ranks up there with Bill Cosby's chocolate cake routine in the annals of breakfast humor. More recently, he's been riffing on Russell Crowe, Planet of the Apes and reading the news.

Brian Regan Unmasked Acclaimed Stand-up to Visit Weinberg Stage
Nathan Oravec, Frederick Gazette
Comedian Brian Regan is wearing his "everyman" costume. It's not a Halloween thing, really, but part of the regular ensemble. Here's a man who regularly sends sold-out theater crowds collapsing to the aisles in laughter in upwards of 80 cities annually. Read more » -
Brian Regan interview: The Epitome of Hyperbole
April MacIntyre, Monstersandcritics.com
Comic Brian Regan is a master at always presenting original material and not coasting on reframed old jokes and bits like many of his lazy peers in comedy.
He is always funny, and part of a group of clever comedians like Jim Gaffigan who don’t need to rely on variations of the word f***k to get their laughs. You can sit the entire family down to watch him and everyone howls. Read more » -
Comedian Brian Regan Relates to Grand Rapids Audience's Daily Ironies
Rachael Recker, The Grand Rapids Press
Regan, a master of workaday situational irony punctuated with strong facial expressions and just enough physicality, kept Friday's audience laughing throughout his 80-minute show, which included a 15-minute encore following a robust standing ovation. Read more » -
Brian Regan Gets Serious About Comedy
The Good 5 Cent Cigar
Regan is a sensible, intelligent man who takes his comedy career seriously- but not too seriously. When asked where he gets most of his material from, he replied, "Kmart, I just head to the comedy aisle with one of those big baskets and fill up." Read more » -
A Stand-up's Generic Topics are Instantly Relatable
Philadelphia Inquirer
Brian Regan is a sweet guy who loves his family and won't snark on Paris Hilton. Despite those handicaps, he's funny. Funny enough to sell out theaters across the country. Funny enough to move 100,000 CDs. Funny enough to land his own Comedy Central special. Read more » -
Comic pokes fun at simple absurdities
Milwaukee Sentinel Journal
It is the gift of Brian Regan to mine comedic gold from the most common clay. Regan has never had a hit sitcom or a big movie, but Friday night he nearly sold out the Pabst Theater with material built around the ordinary events of everyday life. Read more » -
Not Your Average Everyday Guy
Atlantic City Weekly
The bad news for Brian Regan fans was that tickets for the comedian's appearance at the Borgata's Music Box this weekend disappeared in a flash. The good news, however, was that the swift sellout prompted the casino to add a second show — in the larger Event Center room (at 11pm). Read more » -

Brian Regan Delivers Comedy by Request
Cape Cod Times
The thing about comedy, Brian Regan said at last night’s Melody Tent stand-up performance, is that it’s supposed to be a surprise, "but apparently that’s not important to you." Fans had politely restrained themselves for the three-quarters of Regan’s show, then started calling out routine titles... Read more »
